The Protector group design and install detector activated remotely monitored CCTV systems as required by the police & insures to the British Standard BS8418:2003 (the code of practice for the installation and remote monitoring of detector activated CCTV systems).
The attitudes of Police & insurers are diving up the requirement for construction projects to have security systems. However where a user requires a level 1 police response to their remote monitored CCTV system, adherence to BS8418 will be mandatory. A site survey by our surveyors will provide an accurate security risk assessment of your project and effect security solution. We will liaise with your insurance assessor and insurance company proficing additional copies of our survey, risk assessment and specification for your insurance providers approval and risk assessment for the police.
BS8418 requirements:
- Field of view - The standard requires that camera & detector fields of view should match one another and be confined to within site boundaries and not extend into public areas.
- Light - There should be sufficient light (night & day) to illuminate the cameras field of view
- System Integrity - Each detector must be uniquely identifiable to the system. All cabling & detection devices should incorporate tamper protection
- Event verification - To verify an event the field of view should be set to BS8418 criteria.
- Audio Challenge - An audio challenge facility is required to guarantee level 1 police response. The audio challenge should be auditable in all areas of detection.
- Business Continuity & disaster recovery - The installation of a back-up UPS system should be considered. The system should have the ability to monitor and indicate video loss to the remove video receiving centre.
A BS8418 system will in most cases, STOP criminal acts BEFORE they occur!!!
A BS8418 system will enable constant and efficient monitoring of your premises. Having an approved BS8418 system will give you a level 1 response from the police. The system could potentially reduce your insurance liability and such a system will reduce risk of arson, theft and vandalism. On site public address audio challenge capabilities are mandatory to obtain a police unique reference number and gain police response. In most cases where a BS8418 system audio challenge is issues from a remote video receiving centre operator it encourages unwanted visitors to leave the site.
The Adpro unit has been designed to provide fast transmission of high quality colour or monochrome CCTV images via ISDN, PSTN, GSM or TCP/IP (LAN/WAN) communication networks allowing the remote monitoring of camera locations virtually anywhere in the world. Adpro can be monitored from the customers own dedicated control room where we would install & set up the Adpro monitoring system. Alternatively we can provide monitoring via our own remove video receiving centre.
Available in 5 or 10 camera input versions, the Adpro allows transmission of full frame or conditional refresh JPEG images, allowing the user to maximise the bandwidth available for transmission.
With automated dial out on alarm or remote observation on demand of the operator coupled with the ability to remotely control opening & closing of gates, switch lighting on and off via the units relay output, the Adpro is an effective and extremely powerful remote monitoring tool. A site intercom facility is also available on site, so that the dedicated control room or remote monitoring station can talk to callers. Additionally Adpro can be provided complete with a tannoy capability, allowing Adpro users to challenge or warn off trespassers via an onsite public address system.
